How can so many delicate sound flavors and density come from these three sweethearts? Pearl & The Beard are like the Fantastic 3 of Buskers. Their stand-out character and stand-out instrumentation hit you like serine waterfall nails on a chalkboard made of chocolate cotton ear-candy. Their admiration for film and how music and film go so well together is evident in their writing. Songs like “Lost in Singapore” “Oh, Death,” and “Douglass Douglass” are like their own acts of an aural play; some scream SHOW TUNE while others purr like symphonic movements.
Although the audio was occasionally spotty, the dinner atmosphere brought a new ambiance and mood to our interview aesthetic. We talked not only about their music and the industry, we also touched on pop culture references and got silly a few times. You’ll enjoy their affection for gas station noodle soups, coldplay, and most importantly: each other. They were warm people and I feel like I made new friends. Thank you Crave Restaurant for tolerating our rambunctious tom foolery and thank you Wildhoneypie for the audio clip of the new Pearl and The Beard song
